Why are oceans and seas salty?
When rivers go to oceans and seas they pick up salt and other minerals from the rocks. Water from the river is constantly being replenished by fresh water from the rain. That's why it doesn't taste salty. But water in the ocean collects all the salt and minerals from the rivers. When water evaporates, it leaves the salt and other minerals behind.
