English week: What have we learnt?

Hi again families! Our students are very motivated with the English week and they are learning to many things. Here you have a summary...

The native americans

Did you know that the native americans were wearing breechcloths when it was hot and leggings when it was cold? The women were wearing a dress and moccassins.



Did you also know that they made their clothes with animal fur and decorated them with feathers?

 Have you ever hear something about the Apache tribe? It was a very important group of six different tribes. They were living in teepees or wikiups. The teepees were made by buffalo skin and the wikiups were made by bark and grass.

We have seen some native americans artistic designs as for example: crafts, sand paintings, wood carving, paintings and baskets.

Did you know which food they ate? They hunted buffalos and rabbits, using a bow and arrows. They also fished and it was very typical to eat corn, berries and acorns.

Religion for the native americans was very important. The sun, the animals, the mountains and the trees were spirits. The great spirit was an eye that controlled everything.

A totem pole: represents some animals or plants and they used it to protect the family.

A hunter dreams: they used it to trap the nightmares.
